Once you’ve scheduled your boudoir session, the next step is to create a Pinterest inspiration board. Most of my clients love to create their inspiration boards because who doesn’t love looking at gorgeous images on Pinterest?
To help you create your own Pinterest board for your boudoir session, I’ve put together this little guide. And if you have any questions, feel free to contact me!
What is a Pinterest inspiration board?
An inspiration board is a Pinterest board of images (or “pins”) that capture the tone, style and mood you want to achieve for your boudoir session. Creating a Pinterest inspiration board is an important step in my boudoir photography process because it helps me understand your style and aesthetic and begin to plan out your session.
Why should I create a Pinterest inspiration board?
If you’ve never done a boudoir session before, it can be a challenge to know what you like and don’t like. There’s much more to boudoir than lingerie, and it’s important to understand what images and styles appeal to you most. By looking through Pinterest at other boudoir images, poses and styles, you can determine what types of photos you want for yourself.
For example, if you pin a lot of black and white images to your inspiration board, I’ll know that those images capture the style you’re going for with your boudoir session. Or maybe you love silhouette photos or images with natural light or implied nudity. Whatever appeals to you, I want to take that inspiration and use it as I’m planning and photographing your boudoir session.
Cool! Where do I start?
If you don’t already have Pinterest, you’ll need to create an account. Once you’ve done that, you can start creating your board! You can name it something simple like “My Boudoir Inspiration.” You can use the search function to search things like “boudoir photos” and “boudoir inspiration.” Choose images that you love, not what you think your partner or anyone else would love—what you love.
Look at different poses and lighting in the photos. Do you prefer bright and fun or dark and moody? Do you like laughing, casual poses or sexy ones? Whatever you love, add it to your Pinterest board. Don’t hesitate over whether to add something or not. The more pins, the better! We can discuss which ones you love most later.
You’ll also want to look up hair and makeup looks to determine what styles you love and may want to try during your boudoir session. Be sure to select a wide variety of images that capture the type of makeup look you’re going for, whether that’s bold and dramatic or soft and subtle.
Once you’ve created your board and pinned plenty of inspiration images, you can share your inspiration board with me. We can even discuss what you love about some of the images and how we can plan out your boudoir session to capture photos you will absolutely love.
